VanceJib Comparison Table
There are two basic types of small portable jibs/cranes: those with adjustable reach, such as the VanceJib, and those with fixed reach. The adjustable-reach types allow you to retract the boom partially when needed, such as when you are shooting in a confined space but still want the smooth jib effect. Here's how the VanceJib compares with the other adjustable-reach jibs/cranes:
Variable Reach Cranes: Adjustable Reach for more versatility; allow use in tighter spaces

*"Setup Time," is the time to set up the jib, minus the camera and counterweights.
**Extensions available for 6', 9', 12' Reach at reduced capacity.
The "Boom Structure" column is included because steel jib booms are stiffer, pound for pound, than aluminum booms. So for a given load, steel booms will exhibit less bounce and flex than aluminum booms. See our Steel vs. Aluminum page for a more detailed explanation.
Estimated ("est.") values are derived from partial information given by the manufacturers.
