The Engineered Jib |
All jibs give you the freedom of camera movement that only jibs can. But they vary greatly in load capacity, reach, portability, cost, and ease-of-use.
The goals of jib design should be:
- Stability
- Strength
- Portability
- Affordability
It should set up quickly and easily, without the need for any tools, and there should be no loose hardware that can be forgotten or lost.
The VanceJib achieves all these goals, and adds the versatility of adjustable reach. Starting with a clean slate, it was designed by an engineer who is also a filmmaker. (Or maybe he’s a filmmaker who is also an engineer—it’s hard to tell.)
The VanceJib is an engineered design. Our philosophy is that all the engineering should go into products up-front—you shouldn’t have to be an engineer to use them. Every design element and every material used is chosen for best performance for the intended use. It is a specialized assembly of steel, aluminum, and bronze, incorporating each of these materials where most appropriate.
